Proterozoic magmatism in central southern Australia reflects a temporal and isotopic switch from inter-cratonic recycling of Palaeoproterozoic lithosphere during a significant mantle depletion. The Davenport Province is a fluvial to shallow-marine sequence of weakly metamorphosed sandstone, rhyolite and basalt deposited in an ensialic basin that was probably initiated by continental extension. Isopach ridges and cut-offs suggest that synsedimentary normal and transfer faults controlled deposition. These faults were reactivated as reverse faults and strike-slip faults during deformation.
